Indigenous people in the Caribbean

Image may contain: Text, Font, Paper, Illustration, Black-and-white.

This catalogue card shows some of the few preserved archaeological objects from eradicated indigenous groups of the Caribbean islands.

From the middle of the 1960s however, anthropologists began to gain interest in Afro-American societies and African traces in the Caribbean and throughout America.

The objects on the catalogue card are from the Taino group and can be seen in the museum’s America exhibition.
