“In contemporary urban society we are constantly flooded by images of popular ‘icons’ from different fields and backgrounds: politics, religion, sports, film, or the entertainment industry. What I did was to paste these images onto one plane, reflecting the make-up of our society’s interests and values as well as their inherent contradictions. Depicted are Buddha, Jesus, Lenin, Britney Spears, Michael Jackson, Indian actor Sha Rukh Khan, Indian actress Aishwarya Rai, and Sri Lankan cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya.”
