Malaysia – Batik traditions on the move
Batik traditions on the moves is focused on the importance of batik in modern Malaysia. The intention is to place batik in a historical and regional context, and to give glimpses of use and aesthetic expression as well as production and trade.
The exhibition also has a technically-oriented section that gives more in-depth information on the production of textiles. Here batik is placed in a wider context of related techniques.
This web text is made as an expansion of the themes that have been mentioned. Parts of it can be read as a running comment to the exhibition, while other parts offer a fuller background orientation.
