This is the Vulu brooch, a formidable ring brooch from the Viking Age weighing over half a kilogram in silver. Ring brooches were likely the jewelry of men—large, heavy, and quite impractical! It is a variant of the Scottish thistle brooches, known for their elegant design with spherical ends on both the ring and the pin. View in a large format.
