On February 1st, our new exhibition, NOREGR – medieval stories, opens to the public.
The exhibition is open daily from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and during the opening weekend, you can meet our dedicated museum host, who will be present to share their knowledge and answer any questions you might have about the Middle Ages.
The Norwegian Middle Ages span a 500-year period, from the middle of the 11th century to the first half of the 16th century. Archaeologists and researchers are continually making new discoveries that shed light on life during this era. In the exhibition, you will find selected artifacts from the latest excavations in Oslo, and you'll get up close to stories about the Norwegian Middle Ages that are seldom told.

Magnus the Lawmender’s Laws of the Land turns 750
In 2024, it will be 750 years since Magnus Lagabøte's Laws of the Land was enacted. The Law replaced the four regional laws for Frostating, Gulating, Eidsivating, and Borgarting, resulting in a common law book for Norway. During the anniversary year of 2024, some of the country's leading medieval experts will explore what this remarkable reform meant for its time and its aftermath.
